I would love to be included in the portrait party. I feel like I’ve been a fly on the Flickr wall admiring all of your work. I could certainly use the practice and support of such a lovely group. Do i need to join via flickr too? or does this suffice. Super excited to meet everyone in person. It’s so fun to feel like I know all the artists from portraits done by the other artists.

I am actually only able to make it happen as I am staying with a friend that lives near Central Park and Riverside Park. I figure I’ll catch a subway to the conference.

how did you go about determining where to stay, as far as how close and all that? Not real familiar with NYC so polling folks for advice…
hey, I feel the same way…except, I’m familiar with NYC (I have a sister in Brooklyn). I’ve been spending the past couple of days looking for hotels. I found this one (which was recommended in the beginning stages of this): http://www.janenyc.com Its a pod hotel, but also has rooms. An affordable option. I’ve stayed in a hotel like this many years ago in San Fran (of course, I got the room with its own bathroom)…but it’s only $100/night and would keep me from having to trek back and forth from Brooklyn. The little pod rooms (shared bathrooms) are $99/night the hotel rooms are about $350. I will also start a group for this because I think its important. NYC is an expensive city. The longer you wait, the higher the rates will be. If there is a group still looking, possible we could get a group rate. Sorry to think of this so late!
Thx Mia, a friend of mine suggested this Hostel : http://www.hinewyork.org/about.shtml, where they have stayed in the past, I just made a reservation, $38 a night…
I also found a few others that look feasible:
